REMEMBER….NEVER call 9-1-1 for an animal issue unless a human is being attacked!

If you have an animal emergency outside of our regular hours, call the Belchertown Police Department at 323-6685. If your call is a true emergency, they will contact us.

When animals arrive at our shelter, they need to be seen by a Veterinarian.  Those costs can add up.  If you would like to make a donation to help with the costs, please see our link on the left hand side of this page.  -  Thank you

BARC (Belchertown Animal Relief Committee)  We are going to continue to fundraise to support the facility with many ongoing needs as well as reach out and help with the costs of the Belchertown Police Department's canine unit. There are many items for sale that will make perfect gifts for both your human and animal friends.  We currently have new styles of t-shirts available.  There are also the ever popular dog tails and new catnip fish for our cat friends.

2022 Dog License Information

Online dog licensing

Dog Licenses for 2022 will be available December 1, 2021.  All dogs over 6 months old must be licensed before January 31st.  Per Belchertown By-Laws, after February 1st , there is an additional $10 late fee imposed, followed by an additional $30 fine after March 1st  and an additional $50 fine after April 1st.  This is a Town By-law and if dogs are not licensed by May 1st, it becomes a by-law violation in addition to the $50 late fee. So, license early to avoid any fines.  If this is a new dog to town, please bring along a copy of the current rabies certificate and spay/neuter certificate.

If you are renewing your dog(s) license and the rabies certificate has expired, please be sure to provide a current vaccination certificate.   Mass General Laws have changed in regards to owning 5 or more dogs.  Please contact our office for more information.
The license fee in Belchertown is $8 for spayed/neutered and $15 for intact.

If you no longer have your dog, please be sure to notify our office so we can correct the files.  If you have moved within or out of town, also please notify our office so the records may be adjusted with your current address.

If your pet is missing, please call or text us a message with a picture and pertinent info that we can share. If we do not have your pet, we will take the necessary information and will contact you if we are notified of it being found.

Lost animals and those up for adoption can be found on our link on the left hand side of this page.
