Reaching out to the elderly residents of Belchertown is a large part of the mission of the Council On Aging. Outreach workers are specially trained professionals who assist clients in maintaining their independence for as long as possible. Through meetings with elders in their home environment, needs can be assessed and addressed together. At times family members may be a part of this process. Along with assisting elders to assess and verbalize their needs, Outreach Workers are knowledgeable on where and how to connect elders with resources. The Outreach services are currently partially funded by a Federal Title III B grant through WestMass ElderCare our local Aging Service Access Point, and by funding from the Older Americans Act through the Massachusetts Office of Elder Affairs and the Administration for Community Living.
The Belchertown Council On Aging offers our seniors a wide variety of services including help with medicare and insurance related issues, prescription drug plans, in-home services, various assistance programs, housing alternatives and safety issues.
Please email Diane Morgan or call her at 323-0420 extension 509 with your specific needs or if you know of someone else in need.
