LAST CHANCE TO REGISTER:

 

SANDY KOUFAX Division is for individuals 13 years of age but not 15 before May 1, 2010.  Players of the John L Sullivan league will compete on a regulation size diamond (90 ft)  With just a few modifications to high school baseball rules.  Cost is $60.00 due at time of registration.  Practices will be held in April and May with the Regular Season opening day of June 1, 2010.  Evaluation for these teams will be held Sunday, March 13th.  All players who register prior to the deadline will be placed on a team.  Registration deadline is March 11.

 

SOFTBALL is offered to young ladies in 3rd thru 9th Grade (9th graders can not be on a High School Softball team and must meet the age requirement of not 15 before Jan 1, 2010).  Evaluations will be held March 13.  Practices will be held in April.  Opening day is May 1 and the regular season will last about 7 weeks with approximately two games played per week.  Cost is $45.00 and is due at time of registration.  All players who register prior to the deadline will be placed on a team.  Registration deadline is March 11, 2010. 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL SPRING SOCCER

This program is designed to introduce the very basics of soccer with the emphasis on fun. We are now taking registration for boys and girls who are currently attending Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. Cost is $30.00. The season lasts approximately 7 weeks. Birth certificate is required with payment at time of registration. Registration deadline is Saturday, March 13, 2010

 

SWIM CLINIC

Swimming for all boys & girls grades 1 - 12. Three levels are being offered beginner, intermediate & advanced, every Monday, Wednesday, & Friday from March 15th thru April 16th  at CHCS pool. The cost is $75.00. Registration deadline is March 13, 2010.

 

 The Belchertown Recreation Department is pleased to announce that we are now taking team registrations for our new COED ADULT SOFTBALL LEAGUE.  This slow-pitch weeknight coed league is set to begin games in early May with playoffs by mid August.  Cost to register a team is $600.00, which includes game balls and umpiring fees.   A limited number of spots are available so call or email Debbie or John at 323-0419 (ddorval@belchertown.org or jsoja@belchertown.org) today for a registration packet.  Teams must be registered with all fees paid no later than April 10, 2010.

 

 ART IN THE AFTERNOON

This art class emphasizes on fun and the learning process with a multi-cultural, multi-media explorations in artistic expression. Instructor Cathy Kenneally will center around one major theme: Native American Artistry & Crafts – lessons include sand painting, talking sticks, totem poles, clay pottery and weavings.

WHO: Boys & Girls in grades 1-5

WHEN: Wednesdays, March 24, 31, April 7 & 14 from 3:15 – 4:30 p.m.

YOGA

This 9 class yoga focuses on physical movement which is challenging yet soothing. The instructor presents information-rich classes featuring anatomical mechanics of poses; yoga history, lore and philosophy; personal experience; and energy-oriented benefits of postures.

You do not have to be flexible, strong, or very fit to enjoy yoga as each participant is encouraged to move at their own pace.  Those with chronic health issues or physical limitations should seek physician’s permission and inform the instructor prior to enrolling.  We practice yoga barefoot, and students should wear comfortable clothing that fits close to the body.  Instructor supplies equipment.

COACH PITCH Division is a coed league for individuals currently in First and Second Grade.  This fun and instructional league is aimed at teaching the game, learning fundamentals and developing overall skills in batting, base running and fielding.  The season is approximately 7 weeks long and will begin in May.  Cost is $30.00.  Registration deadline is April 15, 2010. Birth Certificates and payment is due at time of registration.

 

T-BALL Division is a coed league for individuals currently in Kindergarten.  This is an entry level program to introduce the very basics of the sport to girls and boys with the emphasis on fun.  The season last approximately 5 weeks and will begin the end of May / beginning of June.  Cost is $25.00.  Registration deadline is May 8, 2010.  Birth Certificates and payment is due at time of registration.
