Here at the Belchertown Housing Authority we select tenants for the low income, state-aided housing programs for the elderly/disabled (667) and for families (705). For the 667 program we have 48 one bedroom apartments, 24 of which are on the first floor and 24 of which are on the second floor. For the 705 program we have two 2 bedroom units, two 4 bedroom units, and eight 3 bedroom units. To be eligible for the 667 program you must either be 60 years of age or older, or be able to provide certification from a physician on the Department of Housing & Community Development (DHCD) provided form that you have a qualifying disability. To be eligible for the 705 program your family size must fit our 2, 3 or 4 bedroom units. In addition to this eligibility criteria, your household must be within the income guidelines for either housing program.
In addition to being eligible for the housing program that you are applying to, your household must also be qualified. Qualification screening includes personal reference checks, prior landlord reference checks, criminal history checks, and other background screening. The two bedroom 705 family wait list is closed and will remain closed until 11/1/2017; at which point it will be re-evaluated. DHCD guidelines state that wait lists for a housing program should be closed when wait time exceeds 4 years. The three and four bedroom 705 family wait lists are open.
The 667 waiting lists are still open for elderly and disabled housing.
The Belchertown Housing Authority cannot participate in the MRVP, Section 8, or any other voucher program at this time. We also do not have any federally funded housing programs at this time.
