Transportation Services

Our Belchertown Council on Aging van transports seniors to and from the Senior Center for activities and a myriad of programs weekdays, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Transportation priority is given to our regularly scheduled congregate meals and Supportive Day Program. As scheduling permits, we can provide transportation to local banks, pharmacies, medical offices, post office, etc. The van is handicapped accessible.

Call the Senior Center dispatcher at 413-323-0420 for the fee schedule, to check availability, and to make a reservation.

Alternate Transportation

If you are unable to secure a ride with our Council on Aging van, Hulmes Transportation has ride options including, shuttle service and fixed routes. Please call them for further details at 413-323-6100.

In addition, MV Transportation, the area’s PVTA provider can secure ADA rides, and Dial-A-Ride door to door service. Please request your arrangements in advance by calling 866-277-7741.

Companion Errand Program

The Companion Errand Program provides our seniors with transportation and a companion to accompany them to physician appointments, dental visits, physical therapy, medical tests, etc.  This program provided 1100 hours of service to over 80 seniors and caregivers during the last twelve months and the numbers continue to grow.  Those served depend on the service for something many of us who drive take for granted: a means to get from one place to another. But our companions don’t just provide transportation; they go along with the senior to these appointments.

Demand for the Companion Errand Program continues to overwhelm our capabilities to provide this vital service.  We greatly appreciate the financial support for this program through donations from clients served, their families, local citizens, and area businesses.  The program is currently partially funded by a Federal Title IIIE Caregiver Assistance grant through WestMass ElderCare, our local Aging Service Access Point.

For further information, please call Kim at 413-323-0420.
